Welcome to Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary

The Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary or Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary is situated in Western Sikkim in Singalila Range forming a natural border with Nepal in The West. The sanctuary also borders the State West Bengal from Sikkim in the south by Rambong Khola stream. The entire sanctuary is spread over 104 km2, across the Singalila Range. The Varsey Sanctuary can be reached from three points, Hilley, Dentam and Soreng. The most popular entry is Hilley since it is approachable by road and Varsey is only 4 km trek from this point through the beautifully laid gravel path shaded by different species of rhododendron.

Tashiding monastery

Tashiding is a small village on a hilltop near Pelling. The Tashiding monastery belongs to the Nyingmapa order and is highly revered among the people of Sikkim. Build on the top of the hill and looming over the Rathong and Rangit river, the monastery can be seen from far and wide. It is believed that even a slight glimpse of the monastery can cleanse mortals of all sins.

Visit Yuksom

Yuksum today is an attractive tourist destination and the base for some of the most exciting treks in the region. It is also of great historical importance to the Sikkimese with the first Chogyal crowned here in 1642. There are many places of religious and historical interest.

2. Khecheopalri Lake

About 28kms from Pelling at a height of 6000ft is Khecheopalri Lake which is the most holy and wish fulfilling. According to Buddhist belief the lake is the emanation of goddess Tara blessed by Guru Rempoche. Local folk tales say the lake got migrated from elsewhere and stayed in the valley.

The Singshore Bridge

The grand Singshore Bridge is touted as the highest bridge in Sikkim and the second highest gorge bridge in Asia. An architectural brilliance with a length of 198 m, the bridge is built in between two hills. An extremely popular tourist spot, the bridge is about 5 km away from Pelling.

13. Uttarey Sikkim

You can reach Uttarey from Pelling, Gezing or Dentum. On your way you will pass Singsor bridge, said to be the second highest bridge in Asia. The height of Uttarey is about 6600ft. Uttarey is famous for its tranquility and natural beauty. The place provides beautiful view to the Himalayan mountains.
